Learn about the different loofah varieties:

Traditional loofah is the most commercially available and hardiest of the three loofah types. Very dense, keeps its shape even when wet.
Egyptian loofah, also known as Luffa, is the largest variety and grows to 20-25" long and 4-5" wide. This loose knit loofah is pliable, which makes it perfect for the bath & shower.
Mayan loofah is native to Mexico and Central America. It is a great balance between Asian and Egyptian loofah. Not too hard and not too loose. They are smaller and are cut 10" in lengths.

Loofah Cuts

Loofah Slices cut for soapmaking, craft projects, and the larger slices make great shower/bath or cleaning sponges.

Loofah cuts are priced per piece, we bag the quantity you select in large zip-lock bags. Simply select the size cuts desired.

Choose from:

2.5" - 3" inches in diameter cut between 7/8" and 1" inch thick slices.
2.5" - 3" inches in diameter cut into 1.5" inch thick slices.
3" - 3.25" inches in diameter cut between 7/8" and 1" inch thick slices.
3" - 3.25" inches in diameter cut into 1.5" inch thick slices.

Mayan Loofah imported from Guatemala

Our Mayan loofahs are sourced from small family farms in Guatemala.

These loofahs are cut to either 5 or 10 inch lengths and range from thin 2.5" to a wide 4.5" in diameter. We sort them by their thickness.

Compared to the hard South-East Asian traditional loofahs, these are not as hard and slightly less dense which makes them a good choice for soap makers and as a bath loofah.

We receive these compressed in bails and reconstitute them by dipping them in water and then letting them dry. You can save a little bit by purchasing the loofahs compressed.

Egyptian Loofah

Egyptian Loofah, also known as Luffa or Leefah, in their raw form choose from 4", 6", 12" cuts or the whole uncut loofah typically between 18" - 22" in length.

Egytian loofah is longer, wider in diameter and looser knit than the Common Loofah.

Due to the softer nature of this loofah some prefer this loofah over the common loofah in the bath & shower and it can be used daily with your favorite body wash. Egyptian Loofah ships partially compressed and will reconstitute itself once submersed in water. If you are unfamiliar with the different loofah varieties, we recommend trying our Loofah Sampler first which comes with all three different loofahs.
